Agile Product Ownership in a Nutshell

This is basically a 1 day product ownership course compressed into 15 minute animated presentation. There’s obviously more to product ownership than this, so see this is a high level summary.

This gives a really great overview of Agile using simple-to-understand language! I like like this video a lot. Enjoy

Dropbox Dropquest chapter 1

If you want an extra gigabyte of storage on your Dropbox account, the online cloud service invites you to compete in its second annual “Dropquest” online scavenger hunt.

It’s a series of logic puzzles that will make you browse around the Web while also learning about the various features and services that Dropbox offers. Anyone who makes it to the end will get an extra gigabyte, but the first person to complete it wins a grand prize package culminating in a 100 GB account, free for life.

Dropquest Chapter 1

  1. The product of the first two digits is 24.
  2. The fourth digit is half of the second digit.
  3. The sum of the last two digits is the same as the sum of the first and third digits.
  4. The sum of all the digits is 26.
  5. The second digit is greater than the last digit.

if abcde is the password….

  • a*b=24
  • d=b/2
  • e+d=a+c
  • a+b+c+d+e=26
  • b>e

Valid solutions are

  1. a=3 b=8 c=6 d=4 e=5
  2. a=1 b=24 c=0 d=12 e=-11
  3. a=2 b=12 c=5 d=6 e=1

The first one is the only one that create a 5 digits password :-))

How to get 5GB of free additional Dropbox storage

dropbox

Dropbox is arguably the best known cloud-based file sharing service. It’s available for Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones and Android smartphones. You get 2GB free of charge, but here is a tip to get 5GB more…

With the service’s latest beta desktop software, Dropbox has added an automatic photo import feature. Plug in a camera or smartphone, and you’ll have the option to automatically import those pictures to your Dropbox account.

During this beta period, Dropbox is also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you’ll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 4.5GB total. [Update: To clarify, you can get up to 5GB of free space with this feature, if you count the initial 500MB space for the first photo import].

As usual, Dropbox strongly recommend making a backup of your Dropbox before upgrading to this build as we’ll need a few weeks to be certain of its stability.

Linux x86_64: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-1.3.13.tar.gz
Linux x86: http://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86-1.3.13.tar.gz

When you are finished, and credited , just remove your freshly uploaded pictures and keep the 5GB of additional storage!

Agile Scrum anti patterns

Really worth reading if you are experiencing Agile Scrum development.

800px-Scrum_process.svg

I do think AGILE and SCRUM has its place.  It is just that I believe this place is running projects under 5 people and delivery durations of less than 6 months. At that level, employing the right people with the right skills and motivation frequently guarantees that MAGIC will occur. The new media industry proves this everyday, irrespective of approach /method used. Good people always have the potential to overcome deficiencies with methods /approaches and poor management. I have seen it time and time again.

This is what I would call

anti patterns for Scrum

I think you can learn a lot more from these anti scrum pattern failures than from success stories. The path to success is narrower than you may think!, and you can be on a parallel road leading to a failure. Take also time to read all the comments, some are really interesting.

What is the most interesting is this article was written in 2006!

Defunct Scrum – A collection of everything wrong with Scrum.

Scrum is an iterative, incremental framework for project management and agile software development.
Although Scrum was intended for management of software development projects, it can be used to run software maintenance teams, or as a general project/program management approach.

Months of blue screen of death in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits

All my latest blue screens of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, 48 inches of blue wallpapers 🙂

The Blue Screen of Death (officially known as Stop error, also known as BSoD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is a colloquialism used for the error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error that can cause the system to shut down to prevent irreversible damage to its integrity. It serves to present information for diagnostic purposes that was collected as the operating system issued a bug check. [WikiPedia]

Do i get more and more blue screens?

YES, the first 5 months none, (installed Windows 7 in november 2009), now i get some…2 per months, maybe it’s time to reinstall the whole operating system 🙂

Would I still recommend Windows 7  64 bits?

Yes still,  if you want to start #Eclipse with 2GB of RAM, you have no other choice! except switching to #Linux or Mac 🙂
