Continuous build server for Joomla!

continuous.server.toolbox.for.php Starting from now on, in order to

  • Increase quality of my components and other (JoomlaComment :-))
  • Reduce time between releases,
  • Avoid subtle or recurrent issues

I will set up a continuous integration  build server at

http://continuousbuildserver.waltercedric.com

Continuous integration describes a set of software engineering practices that speed up the delivery of software by decreasing integration times.

  • Maintain a code repository, the code will stay at JoomlaCode.org subversion
  • Automate the build, with Maven for PHP/Ant and either teamcity or phpundercontrol.org
  • Make my build self-testing with PHP Unit and Selenium IDE
  • Everyone commits every day,
  • Every commit (to mainline) will be built with the help of triggers,
  • The build will be fast,
  • Test are done in production environment, by deploying code to  old and new version of #Joomla! 1.0 and 1.5 “not web accessible” (for obvious security reasons),
  • It will be easy to get the latest deliverables by visiting http://continuousbuildserver.waltercedric.com
  • Everyone will see the results of the latest build by visiting http://continuousbuildserver.waltercedric.com
  • Deliverables will be automatically deployed.

In short (for all non developer), this program will

  • Monitor any changes of code
  • Trigger a build,
  • Deploy the build to different versions of #Joomla! 1.5 (5 versions should be enough)
  • Run a set of tests against these #Joomla! versions and
  • Make the result available to all of you.

Soon as there is enough test cases, it will be safe to download any new release from there.

Securityimages 5.1.1

compat_15_nativeext_com Component – ext_mod Module – ext_plugin Plugin

com_securityimages This is an intermediate release before the new version 5.2.0

It solved the following major issues in version
5.1.0

BUG: logs table were not properly deleted after removing the component

BUG: securityimages was not installing at all in #Joomla! 1.5.8 but properly in previous  version.

The error has been found, it was my fault, I was incorrectly having 2 xml installer with the same name!

  • File A in {ziproot}/securityimages.xml                 for installing the main component
  • File B in {ziproot}/plugin/securityimages.xml      for the system plugin configuration/install

So it seems that #Joomla! previous to 1.5.8 was searching or ordering zip file entries differently…
In previous versions (before 1.5.8), #Joomla! found the file A, and install was a success, while in #Joomla! 1.5.8 it just found file B and failed to install the main component part.

Now my solution has been to zip the system plugin in an additional zip file plugin.zip that will get unpacked at install time in /plugins/system/

I’ve tested the install with the following version of #Joomla! 1.5.5, 1.5.6, 1.5.7 and 1.5.8

Securityimages 5.1.0 not installing with Joomla 1.5.8

software.bug Many users have reported issues in my forums, it is currently not possible to install SecurityImages
5.1.0 in the latest version of #Joomla! 1.5.8

I already test the following locally in my developer environment

  1. A previous version of SecurityImages 5.0.0RC1 is properly installing in #Joomla! 1.5.8 but you need to install also the
    system plugin manually
  2. The latest version of SecurityImages 5.1.0 is properly installing in #Joomla! 1.5.5, 1.5.6 and 1.5.7 but not in #Joomla! 1.5.8
  3. If I remove in SecurityImages 5.1.0 the automatic install of the system plugin along with the component, the install succeed
but you need to install also the  system plugin manually

So it seems that installing the component through the #Joomla! installer framework, together with a system plugin
(using install.securityimages.php) in one shot is no more possible due to…???

I am still investigating, but that will take a bit of time as there is no error in logs files of apache, php and #Joomla!

LIFE Photo Archive available on Google Image Search

From the Official Google blog

The Zapruder film of the Kennedy assassination; The Mansell Collection from London; Dahlstrom glass plates of New York and environs from the 1880s; and the entire works left to the collection from LIFE photographers Alfred Eisenstaedt, Gjon Mili, and Nina Leen. These are just some of the things you’ll see in Google Image Search today.
We’re excited to announce the availability of never-before-seen images from the LIFE photo archive. This effort to bring offline images online was inspired by our mission to organize all the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
This collection of newly-digitized images includes photos and etchings produced and owned by LIFE dating all the way back to the 1750s.
Only a very small percentage of these images have ever been published. The rest have been sitting in dusty archives in the form of negatives, slides, glass plates, etchings, and prints. We’re digitizing them so that everyone can easily experience these fascinating moments in time. Today about 20 percent of the collection is online; during the next few months, we will be adding the entire LIFE archive — about 10 million photos.

My Joomla! Mirror is open!

I did upgrade today a #Joomla! installation that was quite old: #Joomla! 1.0.11 so this site hasn’t been updated at all in the last 810 days 😦

As it was difficult to find the package 1.0.11 to 1.0.15 since Joomla Code is no more providing it, see the picture below

joomla.files

I’ve decided to open my own #Joomla! mirror

http://mirror.waltercedric.com/

It contains all versions of #Joomla! since the beginning… 450Mb of files

Enjoy 🙂

Joomla!, a very popular content management system (CMS) is as you may know an easy-to-deploy-and-use content management system. This ease of use has lent itself to rapid growth of both the CMS and extensions for it. You can install it on almost any host, running #Linux or Windows. This highly versatile software has found itself in such lofty places as large corporate web portals, and humble places such as the simple blog.

Joomla! itself is inherently safe, but misconfigurations of the CMS, vulnerable components, hosts that are poorly configured, and weak passwords can all contribute to the downfall of your site. Hence, it’s always better to ensure the security of your site.

In this article by Tom Canavan, we will take a look at how SQL injection attacks can occur to your #Joomla website, how we can test for SQL injection attacks, and how to stop SQL injection.

    Introduction

Mark Twain once said, “There are only two certainties in life-death and taxes.” Even in web security there are two certainties: It’s not “if you are attacked”, but “when and how” your site will be taken advantage of.

There are several types of attacks that your #Joomla! site may be vulnerable to such as CSRF, Buffer Overflows, Blind SQL Injection, Denial of Service, and others that are yet to be found.

The top issues in PHP-based websites are:

    • Incorrect or invalid (intentional or unintentional) input
    • Access control vulnerabilities
    • Session hijacks and attempts on session IDs
    • SQL Injection and Blind SQL Injection
    • Incorrect or ignored PHP configuration settings
    • Divulging too much in error messages and poor error handling
    • Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
    • Cross Site Request Forgery, that is CSRF (one-click attack)
